If you’re looking for an easy detox juice recipe, that also tastes amazing and is kid approved, this recipe for you.
Some notes on the individual benefits:
Beet - In addition to having an excellent nutritional profile, beets support detoxification and help to strengthen the immune system. Additionally, they are high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, as well increase blood flow to muscles allowing for increased stamina and overall athletic performance.
Ginger - Ginger is loaded with antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties. Also known to reduced nausea and improves blood sugar regulation by reducing enzymes that break down carbohydrates - allowing for a slower digestion.
Lemon - Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.
Quick Juicing Tips:
Use organic - at the very least for the ”dirty dozen”
To save time, prep your ingredients in advance when possible.
Don’t forget to wash and scrub those fruit and veggies!
Juice in bulk - I like to double, triple a juice recipe and juice for the family for a couple of days. Juice lasts in the refrigerator for 3 days and I have also had success freezing juice for a couple of weeks.
Save the pulp! I often freeze the pulp in ziploc bags. The leftover pulp is where all the fiber is mostly stored. I throw the pulp in smoothies, soups, and a house favorite is using carrot pulp to make carrot muffins - the resultant crumb on that muffin is to die for.
Try to drink your juice within 3 days, after this time the nutrients begin to deteriorate over time.
How To Juice:
I typically like to start with my smaller items like the ginger, add the harder items like the beets, and finish with something “juicy” like the apples. I find doing this allows for a more efficient process when running your fruit and vegetables through the juicer.
A detoxification juice that is absolutely delicious!
